Clifden

Clifden town is known as the capital of Connemara, one of the most scenic regions in Europe. Established in the early 1800’s at Clifden bay, it follows the classic 19th century layout: oval in plan, with three principal streets, a market square, a fine bridewell, courthouse and harbour.

Today it is a vibrant and cultural town offering a wide range of services and facilities. You will find colourful streets with a great selection of small independent shops including craft butchers, a weekly fish and vegetable market, artisan delicatessens, a bakery, numerous craft and gift shops, art galleries, exhibitions, antiques shop, jewellery designer, designer/ vintage and ethical clothing shops, beauticians, hairdressers, beauty salons, seaweed baths and three prime supermarkets.
